Monthly Meeting
featuring
Major General Craig Koziol
Commander
Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance Agency
speaking on the topic
"Current Tactical and National-Level ISR"
Thursday, March 20, 2008
343rd - Briefing Room
Major General Koziol, the commander of the newly re-aligned
Air Force Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency, came in to speak to the local Roost replete with information. He spoke of Intelligence as it was when he was a young Lieutenant in the late 70s and the new construct of ISR as it is today. He chided a phrase used for years in the business "near real time" as rather meaningless arguing that ISR must operate in
real time. Key of course today is the need for accurate information. Maj Gen Koziol is responsible for meeting current and future challenges in the field of ISR. As such he has become the chief advocate to ensure its success. Integration among the services, the components, and interaction between the different weapons systems on the battlefield were crucial arguments which helped propel the agency to what it is today where "persistent awareness" is the new bar set for information warriors throughout the domains of air, space, and cyberspace.
"Because ISR capabilities are at the core of determining
desired effects, ISR has never been more important during our 60 years as an independent Service. ISR has become the foundation of Global Vigilance, Reach and Power."
-Gen Mosely, CSAF
The Strategic Roost seeks to call upon respected speakers talking about interesting things in the area of Information Operations or Electronic Intelligence. Maj Gen Koziol certainly provided insight as to where that capability in the form of ISR is headed. This capability is working to integrate the entire sphere of information about the globe transforming it into an "effects-based" product.
