Monthly Meeting
featuring
Brigadier General James Poss
Director of Intelligence
Headquarters Air Combat Command
speaking on the topic
"Current ISR issues including
manning and force structure"
Thursday, 6 September 2007 - 1115 - 1300
Patriot Club - Nebraska Room
In his position as Director of Intelligence for Air Combat Command, Brigadier General Poss is responsible for helping to shape the intelligence enterprise while directing what that enterprise looks like at ACC. Given the number of EWO's in the room, young and old, there is a persistent curiosity if not a passion for the operator in the flight suit aboard ISR platforms. The audience being rich in RC-135 tradition, didn't hesitate to ask the lingering question — "What does the future hold for the aviator aboard reconnaissance platforms?" In his position directing intelligence activities within ACC, he also advocates ACC's position to the Air Force and beyond. It was clear from his speech and Q & A that the tube will remain intact. The men and women who fly aboard these aircraft cannot be replaced by band-width. Their service extends far beyond the war on terror but to the next problem set, the next hot spot, and the next hostility where power and might implement policy. While the rumor may be unmanned the reality remains in the hands of our aviators who at least in ACC will continue to fly reconnaissance sorties around the clock, around the world.
General Poss advocates intelligence policy and weapons system requirements. He also guides intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance tactics, techniques and procedures applicable to ACC forces worldwide.
